These are the rules for using AlleRecipe. We've tried to keep them short and readable. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@allerecipe.com. By installing or opening the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
AlleRecipe is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and does not provide medical advice.
The app's allergen detection depends on the quality of the data we read (Open Food Facts ingredient lists, OCR of photographed labels, recipes you import). Any of these can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Ingredient labels also change without notice when manufacturers reformulate their products.
If you, your child, or anyone you cook for has a severe or life-threatening allergy:
If you have a question about the app's verdict on a specific product or recipe, err on the side of caution — assume the verdict could be wrong and check the label yourself.
You may install AlleRecipe on devices you own or control, use it for personal allergy management (yours and your household's), and import recipes from sources that allow such use.
You may not:
We reserve the right to revoke access (block API tokens, drop your anonymous user ID) for accounts that abuse the backend — for example, by burning through the recipe-import budget on automated scripts. In practice, the app is intended for personal household use and that's the use we'll continue to support.
Everything you create inside the app — profiles, allergens, custom chips, saved recipes, cookbooks, meal plans, scan history — belongs to you. We never claim any ownership over your data.
Recipes you import from third-party sites (NYT Cooking, Food52, blogs, social videos) remain under the copyright of their original authors. AlleRecipe extracts ingredient information so we can check it for allergens; we don't republish full recipes outside your own device.
At v1.0, AlleRecipe is free and offline-first. The core features — barcode scanning, OCR of labels, allergen presets, custom chips, scan history, recipe import (5/week), saved recipes, cookbooks, meal planning — work without an account and without paying us anything.
If we ever change what's in the free tier, we'll announce it ahead of time. We will never retroactively gate a feature you were already using locally and move it behind a paywall.
The Pro tier (planned for v1.1) will add cloud sync, family sharing, recall alerts, and a few other things. Pro will be a paid subscription. It is optional — the free tier stays free.
Some features call paid third-party APIs:
We pay for these calls. To keep the app sustainable, the Worker enforces daily caps. If you hit a cap, the feature returns a short "try again later" message. Caps reset at midnight UTC.
We may adjust the caps as the user base grows. You will never be charged for a backend call — caps are how we control our costs, not yours.
The app is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
To the maximum extent permitted by law, vassociates and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including without limitation damages for personal injury, allergic reaction, food poisoning, lost data, or loss of profits.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms, the app, or any third-party data, is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim — which for the free tier is zero.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. Where law forbids it, the above applies to the maximum extent the law permits, and the rest stays in force.
We update the app regularly. Updates may add features, fix bugs, change the look, or, occasionally, remove a feature that wasn't carrying its weight. We'll surface a "what's new" note in-app for material changes. We may end-of-life the app entirely with at least 30 days' notice via the Play Store listing and the allerecipe.com website.
If we change these terms in a way that affects you — for example, adding a paid tier, changing how the daily caps work, or narrowing the free-tier promise — we'll update this page, change the "Last updated" date, and surface a notice the next time you open the app. Continued use after the change means you accept the new terms. If you don't want to accept them, you can stop using the app and delete your data via Profile → Danger zone → Delete all data.
You can stop using the app at any time. Just uninstall it, or open Profile → Danger zone → Delete all data first if you want to wipe everything before uninstall.
We may suspend or terminate access for users who abuse the backend, attempt to extract credentials, or violate the "What you can do with the app" section above. We'll do this only as a last resort — usually we just rate-limit the offending IP or token first.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which vassociates is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country gives you stronger rights, those rights apply regardless of what this section says.
