Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how AlleRecipe handles your information. We've kept it short and plain. If anything is unclear, email us at privacy@allerecipe.com.

Who we are

AlleRecipe is a mobile app that helps you track allergens in the food you buy and cook — scan barcodes, photograph ingredient labels, import recipes, and build cookbooks around the allergens your household needs to avoid. The app is published by vassociates ("AlleRecipe", "we", "us"). This policy applies to the AlleRecipe app and the website at allerecipe.com.

The short version

• AlleRecipe is local-first. Your allergen profiles, scanned products, saved recipes, meal plans, and cookbooks are stored on your device.
• We don't ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, or location.
• The camera runs on your device. Photos of ingredient labels are processed locally and are not uploaded.
• When you actively scan a barcode or import a recipe, we send only what's needed for that task to the relevant service.
• You can delete everything at any time from inside the app.

Information we collect

AlleRecipe collects a single piece of data: an anonymous device identifier. When you first open the app, we generate a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal detail. It lets your on-device data be associated with an account you own if you later choose to sign in (for example, for an optional paid plan).

We do not collect analytics, crash telemetry, advertising identifiers, or behavioral tracking data.

Information we do not collect

• Your name, email address, postal address, or phone number
• Your contacts, calendar, or call logs
• Your precise or approximate location
• The products you scan or the recipes you save (these stay on your device)
• Photos from your gallery, or audio recordings
• Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking signals

Camera and photos

AlleRecipe uses the camera so you can scan barcodes and photograph ingredient labels for text recognition. This processing happens on your device. The pictures you take through the in-app camera are used for the scan and then discarded — they are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.

How we use information to provide features

Some features need to contact an online service to work. We only send what that feature requires, and only when you actively use it:

• Barcode lookups. When you scan a barcode, we send the barcode number to the Open Food Facts product database to retrieve ingredient details. We don't send your identifier or anything personal — just the barcode digits.
• Recipe import. When you share or paste a recipe link (or a photo/video) into AlleRecipe, we send it to our recipe-import service, which retrieves the recipe and uses AI to extract the ingredients, steps, and nutrition. We don't attach your identifier or account information to these requests.
• Recipe search. If you search for recipes, your search terms are sent to our recipe search provider to return results.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted providers to deliver the features above. Each processes data only as needed for its task, under its own privacy policy. We don't share anything with them beyond what's listed here.

Data retention

• On your device. Your profiles, scan history, saved recipes, meal plans, and cookbooks remain on the device until you delete them. There is no automatic expiry.
• Recipe-import cache. To make repeat imports of the same link faster, our service temporarily caches imported recipes for up to 7 days, keyed by the link itself — never by your identifier.
• Service providers. The providers above may retain inputs for a limited time under their own policies.
• Anonymous identifier. Persists until you delete the app's data or uninstall.

Your rights and how to delete your data

You can erase everything AlleRecipe holds about you at any time:

1. Open the app.
2. Go to Profile → Delete all data.
3. Confirm.

This clears your on-device database and the anonymous identifier and returns the app to a first-launch state. Uninstalling the app also removes the on-device data.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California) — including the right to access, correct, port, or delete your data, and to object to processing. Because we hold nothing beyond an anonymous identifier, you can exercise most of these directly through the in-app "Delete all data" control. For anything else, email privacy@allerecipe.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

AlleRecipe is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable threshold), and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

• All network requests are sent over HTTPS (TLS).
• Your on-device data is stored in the app's private storage, isolated from other apps by the operating system, and protected by the device's built-in disk encryption.

International users

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, they maintain appropriate safeguards for such transfers under their respective privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change — such as adding a service provider or collecting a new type of data — we'll update this page, revise the "Last updated" date above, and surface a notice in the app.
